UPLift Challenge, Carnegie Mellon University | Pittsburgh, PA (2017)

October 10, 2017

This case was submitted The Hub and tells the story of a new initiative on Carnegie Mellon University’s campus.

"The UPLift Challenge is an initiative that taps into the innovation and creativity of the CMU community to help enhance the campus environment. It does this by soliciting proposals for creative, experimental, and temporary infrastructure that can positively enhance the campus experience. Any member of the Pittsburgh campus community can submit a proposal. In its inaugural year, 59 applications were received with 5 projects funded for deployment in Fall 2017."

Selected projects involve everything from art installations to swing sets and outdoor spaces that promote fun, socializing, and wellbeing. The projects were submitted from across campus life: from the School of Computer Science to the School of Design and the Institute for Politics and Strategy.
