Creative Placemaking is an evolving field of practice that intentionally leverages the power of the arts, culture and creativity to serve a community's interest while driving a broader agenda for change, growth and transformation in a way that also builds character and quality of place.
The Bolz Center for Arts Administration at the University of Wisconsin Madison, School of Business is partnering with Blackbaud and the Alliance for Arts Research in Universities (a2ru) to develop resources for higher education institutions interested in engaging with Creative Placemaking on their campuses.
With this project, we hope to compile stories that will inspire collaboration and provide you with the toolkits and case studies that will demonstrate the path forward. Overall, we aim to foster a conversation among universities and their surrounding communities about how the arts can build a sense of place.
We’ve started by assembling some basic resources on the field of Creative Placemaking and we're starting off with providing general resources related to the field of creative placemaking. These texts and tools feature strategies and arguments that are applicable across types of projects and communities.
Over the course of the next few months, we are asking for your collaboration! Share your campus experiences with us. We want to help you tell your stories through original content, articles, and interviews. We are looking to compile University Resources that specifically relate to creative placemaking work on campuses.
