The Museum's box office ticketing application and membership management application do not share information. Determining how often a member visits the museum, attends a program, or participates in an event is laborious. The Museum has to duplicate information entry into its database from its other software applications. Long Island Children's Museum selected Altru™ from Blackbaud because it will provide a single, central database for both ticketing and donor information. Because Altru is a hosted Blackbaud solution, the Museum does not have to install any new software or purchase a new database server. The hosted solution also eliminates the burden of managing updates from the Museum, while Blackbaud sets up, maintains, and supports the application from its data center. Without a new server to purchase, the Museum has saved thousands of dollars. The Museum anticipates Altru will help increase the organization's membership renewal rates while keeping costs down. Because Altru enables staff with better data access and provides a more holistic view of members, Long Island Children's Museum will be able to more effectively segment and serve its membership base.
